Good looking. Reasonably priced. Comes with a dual type-C/A cable. Doesn’t get hot even when loading up close to full. 238 GB, which is expected (256×0.93). Speed close to USB 3.0 read/write, which is also what it claims. Has been with me for just a couple of days – durability only time will tell. Gets the job done, overall!

This “Orico” was an unknown brand to me, but I decided to give it a try to see how it does. While I’ve not done an extensive full read/write to this drive, from what I did test with it was what seemed to be decent operation of a speedy USB C SSD drive. The drive comes with a good USB C cable (although it was a little short) that had a USB C to USB type A adapter tethered to the cable itself. It’s tethered nicely and I like that it won’t be lost like all my other non tethered USB-C to A adapters!
Time will tell whether or not this drive will stand the (stress) test of time. I will try to update my review if I have any sort of issues. Otherwise this drive is doing quite well as a tech triage and data disk, using with Ventoy to boot various ISO images stored on the disk. It’s fast enough on capable machines. Some machines aren’t going to be fast, so don’t get your hopes up like I did on my slower machines. When I got it to a capable machine, this SSD was solid and fast without dipping in transfer speeds.
My system reports above 1TB of data left over even after using about 10GB… I’m impressed if this is accurate as many drives over estimate their sizes, when you actually get a little lower than what is specified. Compatible with Mac and Windows using the exFAT format.

Pretty Good Little Drive Overall
Picked this up liking the idea of the terabyte of storage in a little package, and overall it seems to be good so far. It works as advertised, easily connecting to both the Windows PC and Android phone. It advertises “up to” a 560 MB/S and through several tests I ran it came fairly close to that mark for the test program, but dropped of significantly for tiny files. I did not do manual testing of this with larger files or groups of smaller ones, but the 430 MB/S test scores bode well.
Improvement wish list:
– The included cable is nice with the shared USB-C/A connector, but the size of the USB-C connector when it’s exposed did not allow it to fit in the phone port because of the case which most people are going to have. This was fixable by reversing the cable and using it ‘backward’ but would have been nice to have a more universal USB-C size to fit. BUT, I do like that the USB-A connector is a lot more firm with this setup as a lot of USB-C to -A converters end up being wobbly. So not a negative here, but just an observation.
– I’d have preferred also a short integrated cable vs one that is separate. Again, not a big negative, but other similar devices/chargers that have that cable built in are easier to manage in our experience.

Compact and Convenient Portable SSD
This ORICO Portable SSD is a convenient and compact storage solution. It’s small and lightweight, making it easy to carry in my bag or even my pocket. The included 2-in-1 USB cable is a nice touch, adding to its versatility.
I primarily use it for storing photos and videos of my toddler son. While 256GB might not seem like a huge amount of storage compared to some options, it’s plenty for my current needs.
Transfer speeds are generally good, although I did notice a slight slowdown towards the end of a large file transfer.
Overall, this is a solid portable SSD that offers good value for the price. It’s a reliable and convenient way to store and transport my important files.

L’apparenza a volte inganna. L’aspetto in effetti è un po’ plasticoso ma l’HD è velocissimo (al pari o superiore ad un SSD Samsung abbastanza più costoso). COmoda la doppia presa USB/USB c e l’aggancio per portarlo in giro. Ottimo acquisto, lo consiglio!

Arrivato e subito messo all’ opera. Il taglio è 512gb. In un colpo ho trasferito quasi 300gb di musica formato flac. In media superava i 120mb/s. Dimensioni minuscole, lo uso in macchina e scompare nel vano.
